Us humans use a helluva lot of Fossil Fuels and there is only a finite amount left under ground. Think about it, it was created millions of years ago and we use for loads of everyday activities - transportation and energy.

What do you reckon will happen when we finally run out? (e.g. will there be war over resources, will we find other fuels, will society's needs change?) And when do you think this will be? Next 100 years, within our lifetimes, never?

*We* won't run out. There really is enough fossil fuel to last for eons or long enough that anytime anybody wants to create a market for sumin else they have plenty of time to make it happen. Oh, speaking of Nuclear as an alternative. . . alternative for what? A bigger ungreen footprint.

I'm not writing a book so I can't quote figures like a oil hunter but we aren't even through *finding* all the fossil fuel. Remember last year the largest deposit ever was found somewhere around Brazil.

I say that cause I don't remember if its on or off shore. But the Chicago thug uh, Obama just allocated 2 billion $$$ to Brazil to drill for it.

Him and his party has a hissy fit if anyone suggests drilling on our land and or off our shore but it's quite alright to give other countries billions to drill there. And it's quite alright that every country with a drill bit is drilling like crazy it the Gulf of Mexico.

I'm not sure how it effects the Earth from underground. But I do know that with how much of it we've been burning for the past centuries now, uf we suddenly stop, the change would be too dramatic.

Which would suggest that looking for alternative power sources now may be an intelligent move.

Things such as wave, tidal, solar power, wind and geothermal. Of course, this is going to upset oil producing companies and oil producing countries, they have poured an awful lot of money into trying to discredit the obvious. If we can all move graciously into a different power producing method over a period of time, it'd be less painful rather than a big sledgehammer overnight.

To think that if we did run out, say hypothetically, it would change society as we know it. Billions would be poured into new energy and renewable energies. But this is eons from now, as a fore mentioned.
