This article is perhaps best explained by watching the youtube video further down, but what this is about is that a hollow mask will appear to healthy people as being convex, even when it should be concave.
In laymen's terms, the back of the mask will look like the front of the mask, those people with schizophrenia are not fooled by the optical illusion in the video.
I've watched the video a few times and still find it very hard to see the back of the mask as being concave.
Listening to the narrator, this is because of the amount of faces I have seen over my lifetime and my brain is trying to tell me that in no way can a face be concave it must be convex. Even when I know that to be false. |
