This story made me laugh.

Apparently teachers can spot which kids might be trouble, just by looking at the names on the register!

Naughty names include-
Callum
Connor
Jack
Daniel
Brandon
Charlie
Chelsea
Courtney
Chardonnay
Aleisha
Casey
Crystal

(Some of them a pretty chavvy names!)

Good, clever names include:
Alexander, Adam, Christopher, Benjamin, Edward, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Emma, Hannah and Rebecca

((w00t! My middle name is Elizabeth so does that mean I'm half bright?))

So any thoughts? Do you reckon there is any truth to this? Do you know anyone of the names above who fits the bill?

Well, the only Adam I know barely ever turned up to lectures, dropped out of uni in his first year and is now an alcoholic - so I wouldn't exactaly agree with everyone with that name being smart/no trouble.

I can see how some of those names can show the bearers to be trouble (as the names can tell you a bit about the parents bestowing them [ie Helen's arguement about them being chavs]) but its not the name itself which causes the child to be trouble, its the environment it has grown up in which will be formative on the child (and mother's who give their children chavvy names are likely to be chavvy themselves) - there has been a lot in the papers recently about how parents morals/behaviour affects how the children grow up and forms their idea of right and wrong. I don't think the name itself can show which children are going to be trouble, but it could be an insight into what sort of parents/family background the child has (and that could show whether they will be trouble or not so much trouble).

And I just happen to have a coworker named adam and he is in management. Now I don't know how he was in school, but he's a very decent worker and a great teacher/mentor. Now there may have been a poll taken, that's the only way I can assume they came up with those names lol

I've known a couple of little brats named Conner. The name has to be a curse. They both were Satan in the flesh.

Crystal and Chelsea are always bad news girls. Crystals appear to be little angels but they can corrupt the Pope. Chelseas are serpents in disguise.

Was Helen not on either list? hmmmm. Laughing

When my mum had my brother she mentioned she would like to call him Thomas.

The nurse commented 'Don't call him Thomas!'

She had one, and he was always trouble.

I think it's like Helen says, a lot of them are chavvy names and so it's that.

Posh people tend to be called Estelle, Philipa, Rupert or suchlike.

I've realised i've not posted enough 'brotherly hate' on here.

Local Government
National Governent
Babies, children and why on earth people want them
People who do MMORPG marathons...
Religion
Marketing and advertising
People who design doors wrong

But i've not posted enough about siblings. I'll have to start blaming the world's troubles on brothers and sisters and why the world would be a happier place if we were all first borns.

The only fault with this is that I would never of met you if this was the case...

Hmm, might be an interesting idea for a thread. Think of someone who you feel has greatly benefited and increased your fulfillment with life, and whenever you look back you wonder if certain things you did were good or bad, and it always comes down to the same thing of 'I would never of met... or never of done...' and because of that you decide that yes, it was a good choice.
What if they never existed what would you believe your world to be like or how would it be different...

We were actually discussing this at work today but we had a different twist on it from you. We were discussing that first borms tend to get into more trouble than younger siblings (Two of my collegue's both agreed that their eldest children were far more trouble than the younger ones) Also their elder brother/sisters are the black-sheeps of the family! My older brother is the same too and I know other families who follow this pattern. I did, you'll be glad to know Minty, point out that your the exception to this rule and that it is the other way around in your family!

Only problem is that if we were all first borns, we'd all have 'only child syndome' and be spoilt brats. Razz And slowly the human population would decrease as the one child wouldn't replace their two biological parents.

Re second paragraph - very true. Some may wish that "X" event never happened or wish they did do "Y" but that might change everything so that the good things in your life now aren't there and you never got to experience them. spooky thoughts.

Well I am the first born, and whilst my brother isn't exactly trouble, I work harder, help out at home more and don't need as much help from my parents on a day to day basis. So, perhaps this means I am not an evil eldest child after all?

You know those placemats/photoframes/cups etc that you can get which have your name on them and then go on to say something like :-

Quote:

'A Hebrew name meaning 'Gift Of God'. He is a compassionate and communicative individual. An emotional person with lightning fast reactions.

Bet you'll never guess where I got that from...
Anyway, are you trying to tell me that there may be some truth to those?
