This makes me even more glad that I live in a remote area.
Really creepy.....

Be careful, my British friends.

Good idea to be honest.
It's a winning situation for everyone.
The company get money from subscriptions.
The shop owners save money aswell as having more safety.
The users get rewarded if they identify correctly =] _________________

There are 4.2 million CCTV cameras in Britain watching our every move.

Which is more than commie 'we're watching you' China.

In London, there are more CCTV cameras than any other city in the world with one camera for every eight Londoners.
|
Now tell me. Is that necessary? - ever heard the phrase overkill? - those cameras cost good money, probably taxpayers money. How many crimes have been solved thanks to CCTV ?

BBC Inside Out's investigation has found that all too often Big Brother either is not watching, had a broken camera, lost the footage or could not be bothered to go through the tapes.

I've said it before, just because people are in positions of power does not mean they are any better as people as any one else. They are human, they are still fallible, they will still lose footage, make mistakes, forget to do things, forget not to do things etc.
This unnerves me, they're trying to make it more 'acceptable' by getting more people involved. What quality is the streamed footage? - oh look that looks just like my grandmother... or it could be a tramp who's had a few rough nights sleeping on a park bench, i'm not quite sure...
And you're trying to tell me this is a good idea ??? _________________ I should update my sig. What to put here for $CurrentYear ? |

A guess this is another step in the Reality TV show phenomenon?
I probably wont be watching but I imagine many people would enjoy the show.
I assume they'll only show the crimes taking place? They wont have live feed 24/7 of a particular shop? Now that would be dull viewing! More boring than watching Big Brother Live at night.

Like most shops and also in that instance, it was the shopkeepers who had funded the CCTV, not the government.

When Paul worked at various supermarkets as a security guard he said this was a regular occurrence - the police not coming to collect the footage or not doing anything with it. once they get it. Kinda makes the whole job a bit pointless really. _________________ Helen, the Administratrix of www.area51newmexico.com

I'd say that was worse. People thinking they are safer with CCTV and then going ahead and paying for it. _________________ I should update my sig. What to put here for $CurrentYear ? |
