So as requested this will be my build thread for what I have Dubbed Subzilla, since it's gonna be big and mean like Godzilla. So far have done the basics like change the oil and air filter, spark plugs. The extra stuff has been to put a new water pump on it and rebuild the carberator, and rebuild the distributor. I also welded up my own mufflers (Flowmaster 44's) other than that I have not done much, just waiting to get a little more money in hand and I can start the real projects. Anyway here are some shots of the little stuff.

update 3/19/10

so I found me an engine to rebuild, it is out of a 92 Suburban, it's a 454 ci with everything still on it, I also get the the 4L80E transmission. That transmission is a beast, it's the biggest baddest overdrive trans you can find.

gonna pick it up next week.

well got down to buisnessover the weekend.

so could not resist tearing into this project. It is stillin hte back of the burb so couldnt do to much but I pulled all the pullys and brackets off then the exhaust manifolds. And dont it figure the rear bole on each side it broke in the head >Sad thats gonna be fun to try and fix, hope it goes well but if not and I got to pull the heads to take to machine shop I guess I will rebuild it. Anywaya couple pics of it.

nice aluminum valve covers with some of the grime cleaned off.

the non adjustable valve train.

overall rockers and pushrods look purdy good. cant wait to pull the intake and see the lifter valley. that will tell me a lot of the story, and I will also pull the Pan to paint it and inspect the crank and rods. Hope it all looks good and wont require a rebuild, need to save the cash for the lift and any of the nickle dime stuff that is gonna pop up when I go to put it in.

well it's 2 AM and I got a lot done on it today but still have a long way to go. The good news is the engine seems to be in great shape, no sludge or gunk in it and I popped the oil pan and you can still see cross hatching in the cylinders!! So I am just gonna button it all back up and run it like it is. Sorr dont have more pice but I got excited and just went to town on it. The down side is the new intake wont take one of the brakets so will need to modify that but dont think it will be too bad.

it came out of the back real easy to so that was a plus. Still got more parts on the way and I am not sure if the oil filter will work with the headders so might have to change the adapter on the block to make it straight down. Also the 4L80E torque converter take 6 bolts so not sure if I can swap it into the TH400 or if I will need to just put the tranny in now? Oh well moe on that tomorrow.

got her buttoned up today, still need to clean and paint the valve covers and set TDC so I can stab the distributor. GUess she is about read to go in now, still need to figure out the torque converter, not sure if the turbo 400 converter will bolt up to the flexplate or not so it will either be buy a new flex plate or converter which ever is cheaper since it is only temporay untill I put the lift on and get all the stuff for the 4L80E.
