Ok so it's not Henry Rollins's rant in Johnny Mnemonic about what causes NAS

Quote: |
Johnny Mnemonic: Yeah, the Black Shakes. What causes it?
Spider: What causes it?
[points to various pieces of equipment throughout the room]
Spider: This causes it! This causes it! This causes it! Information overload! All the electronics around you poisoning the airwaves. Technological fucking civilization. But we still have all this shit, because we can't live without it. Let me do my work.

Ahem where was I? - oh yes the article that made me think this thread up
http://news.slashdot.org/story/10/05/10/0422240/Obama-Calls-Todays-Ubiquitous-Gadgets-and-Information-a-Distraction?art_pos=4
Obama says that information is now a distraction, such things as facebook invade more time than most people may realise.
He talks of information becoming merely a form of entertainment, he goes on to point out the problems that this could cause.
While many other people have posted their comments in the slashdot article, do you believe that with all our gadgets that we all seem to have these days, do we have 'far too much' going on these days?
Do we not come up for air as much as perhaps what we should? - are we presented with far too much information these days?
Myself, I seem to go through periods of doing one thing, until I get bored and go and find something else to do whether that be reading, watching a DVD or planning something with friends. So while I may go through times of this I do always 'reset' somewhat. _________________ I should update my sig. What to put here for $CurrentYear ? |

The reason Husein disparages information is because he can't hide his lies, hypocrisy, and socialist communist agenda.
When he tells an interviewer his energy plan will make energy costs "skyrocket" and those who want to try and operate a coal plant will be penalized into extinction, he can't turn around and say otherwise without being called on it.
When he promises on at least 8 different occasions legislation will be worked out on CSPAN then doesn't do it, he can't lie about it successfully.
And on, and on, and on. He can't rely on his fellow socialists in the press to keep his tax cheating, perverted, communist appointees hidden from public scrutiny.
Ouch. _________________

You don't have a state owned tv news network though?
Surely, it wouldn't take them long (news stations) to have what he said retrieved from film and if ever they needed to flag up his original comments were, they just replay that?
You've had tv news networks for quite a while now, they are not anything new.
Surely, this is just another means of broadcasting news ? - perhaps all the extra news channels I can understand if you tried to check them all, but the 'old staples' of newspapers and television will remain for sometime, even with things like RSS feeds ( which I use at work to keep an eye on headlines )
Saying that information has been moved from the state to that of the people suggests a state run news service in the first place? - which I gather you do not have? _________________ I should update my sig. What to put here for $CurrentYear ? |

We don't need a state run news media. They are willing accomplices/slaves to the liberal leadership of the Democrat Party.
When Obama gets up in front of a group of people and brags about the artists he has on his iPod then some months to a year later does a commencement speech wailing about the burden of too much information on democracy, blaming iPods, iPhones, and iPads none of which he knows how to operate, the audience laughs like he's said something funny. Like a grandpa who's proud of being technically challenged. And no one in the press points out the discrepancy. Now, he either lied about what is on his iPod or he lied about not knowing how to operate one. Even the French leave out the reference to the product names.
But when a McCain mentions he doesn't know how to use email because he can't type due to his wounds a a POW (prisoner of war) the media can't ridicule and denounce his fuddy-duddiness enough.
So yes we have state run media when the democrats are in the majority and yes it is pretty much across the board. Networks and print I mean. _________________
