Yesterday was my last day at work until next year. I was sad to walk out the door but am very excited that I am now off to have my baby.

Blimey, thats not long at all. Here you only get pay for 9 months but are entitled to a year off.

When I was about 9, mum used to pin her work rota up on this noticeboard we had in the kitchen. I noticed that some people had the word 'Maternity leave' plastered across the rota for quite a while.

I asked mum why couldn't she have that...

Yeah, I didn't know what the word meant ok Razz

All the best Roxy, how did you get on at work by the way? - I think I remember you saying you were having trouble with someone at work?

Well, you'll not be troubled by them now regardless Smile

Hope all goes well Smile

Men only get 2 weeks off when their partner has a baby. Pretty harsh if you ask me. There is talk of making it longer though. Not sure how long the mother gets off but I think it depends how nice your employers are.

Mothers are by law entitled to a year off but you only get pay for 9 months...yeh I think 2 weeks for fathers is a bit harsh too.

I remember that day for me.

Me and my friends when we were making plans for stuff to do that summer...

Me - So when are you free?
Them - Well free until whenever
Me - Yeah me too!

This will perhaps be the longest holiday you will ever get. Make the most of it.

I finished my undergraduate degree on Thursday. It still hasn't really sunk in. I don't know what to do now that I have finished my dissertation and there are no deadlines. It feels great to be able to relax again but also weird that 3 years of my life have passed so quickly!
