Hi folks.
And I thought retirement was gonna be mostly kicking back.
This summer has been a sequential vortex of busy.
In June I went about the usual property cleanup, clearing high grass, brush, downed tree limbs etc. After that, Sabra and I got to looking at the decks and decided that they could use some work. She found cleaner, brightner and stain online and we ordered it. In a moment of madness, I chimed in--"The decks could use a good sanding." Well, 1,500 square feet of deck and 450 linear feet of rails later, encompassing 5 weeks of my time, they are ready to stain and seal.
If I never see a belt sander again in my life, it will be too soon.
And continuing in the "let's get carried away vein", I decided to pressure wash they entire log home . The oil based stain and dust had combined to form a very greasy grime which took the pressure washer at point blank range to get off.
All that being said, The place will be beautiful when I am done, just been a hell of a lot of work.
I will try and get up some before and after pics when it is all finished.
Hey, after that I only need to get in 6 cords of wood before the snow starts flying in October.
This concludes my poor me narrative. And at the end of the day, I would not trade living up here in God's country for anywhere else.
Take care all.
