I read that late last year some guy I hoped I had forgotten said that retired army officers should go into school to become role models for children.

Which got me thinking about the role models I had as a child. To be honest, I don't really remember any. I had posters of the SR-71, the cockpit of Concorde and a 'how it works' style poster of the Follett Offshore powerboat ( http://www.classicoffshore.com/history_abo.php ) on my wall. After further trying to jig my memory into getting me to remember I did think of Newton Crosby from the film Short Circuit and Emmett Brown from Back To The Future trilogy but I wouldn't say they were 'role models'. They weren't people I aspired to be, 'When I grow up, i'm going to be just like you!'.
My childhood occupational aim was to be a helicopter pilot, my brother was going to either be a farmer ( because of the animals ) or play for Liverpool and had posters of various footballers.
So, what role models did you have when you were a child? _________________ I should update my sig. What to put here for $CurrentYear ? |

It has taken me all weekend to think of someone that I admired as a kid!
I know it sounds corny but I think my role models were me mum & dad!
I also liked Helen Sharman who was the first Briton into space (when I was a kid, I always wanted to go into space), she also shares my name and she's from Yorkshire! According to here Wiki page, she also likes chocolate! Woot! _________________ Helen, the Administratrix of www.area51newmexico.com
