Let's say you buy something, a consumer durable ( wiki link for those who didn't do business studies - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consumer_durable )
Eventually, as with anything, it gets older as time rolls on.
Would you buy 'a new one' a new model, something else that does the same job etc.
Or would you put the time and money into making whatever it was just like new again ( or even better than what it was like new) _________________ I should update my sig. What to put here for $CurrentYear ? |

I said other because I don't have time to edit yer poll and add Both to the choices. This option of course rules out cars but weed eaters and lawn mowers yeah, the old one become the backup and the new one is well NEW!! YAAAYYYY!!! Got a new one!!! AND being crafty and mechanical got the old one running like new. So whenever possible I fix/repair but usually replacement is inevitable. _________________

As my dad always says, nowadays it's not worth paying to get anything fixed, just buy a new one. Your money will go further. I think he is referring to things like TVs, washing machines etc. It might cost £50 to get it fixed but a brand-spanking, all-mod-cons, new one night cost £150 - you might as well spend that little extra and buy new.
Expensive things like cars are definitely worth paying to get repaired/maintained (unless you're mega rich and can afford to buy new every year). _________________ Helen, the Administratrix of www.area51newmexico.com
