A New Scientist article on why having a high IQ score doesn't always mean you're clever.

I knew this 17 years ago when I first started playing Dungeons and Dragons.
A DnD character has 2 'mental' stats, intelligence and wisdom.
Intelligence was your character's reasoning and ability to store information.
Wisdom was your common sense, guile and willpower. How 'in tune' with the world you were.
Someone with a high intelligence score but low wisdom score would be a 'absent minded professor' style character.
Has it really taken the scientific community this long to catch on to this ? _________________ I should update my sig. What to put here for $CurrentYear ? |

This just goes to show the observation "we can't see ourselves" applies to them as well. I know someone who has an IQ in the genius category but they have zero common sense.
IMHO she proves that IQ measurement is inadequate. How can you be a genius and not know to turn a Christmas tree so you aren't trying to go through the door the wide way? _________________
