Flush your DNS. The issue (I think it's safe to say) is between your computer and that specific named server. It can take up to 72 hours to take effect iirc.

OK, I did the flush and when I pinged the ISP I got a different IP number for both mindspring.com and earthlink.net.
Now I still have to wait as much as 72 hours?

Not particularly, you can try it now but it might not work. If it's still not working after 72 hours then it didn't work.
