Who here has seen the new James Cameron film 'Avatar'?

Any thoughts?

I saw it at the weekend. While I enjoyed it and there were many interesting ideas, I don't think it was his best work.

It's the greatest film ever apparently

http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/arts-%26-entertainment/avatar-%27greatest-ever-film-with-blue-pretend-cat-people%27-200912092293/

It's comments like

Quote:

Office worker Tom Logan, who watched the trailer for Avatar during his lunch break, said: "Despite a lifetime of cultural conditioning to believe that massively expensive things are inherently good, I can honestly say the thought of spending three hours watching glorified Thundercats lobbing stones at robots makes me want to pull my foreskin up over my head and bark like a dog.

That makes me think that 'The Mash' isn't being entirely serious though.

I've not seen it, so can't say. But I always liked the Terminator line of films, and I only saw Titanic as I got dragged there, of course I ruined the film for the perpetrator by telling them the ending ( it sank, there i've just saved you 4 hours of your life ) as a form of revenge.

Compared to the crapper that was Titanic, Avatar was fricking amazing! Put in a normal perspective, it would easily merit a repeat viewing despite itīs length.

Cat people? I thought they were more like elves! They are tall and lanky, live in the trees and they are intune with nature = elves!

I haven't seen it, but I have heard that it is just about the special effects and it is completely lacking on the plot front. I know he was kinda hoping that people would just go to see the film for the novelty of it being in 3D, but pretty soon that novelty will wear off, and people will realise a plot is necessary for a good film, not just shiny special effects.

Yea, i think it's the first major film in 3D. I went to see the 2D so I saw the film as a film and wasn't dazzled by the extras.

For me, it wasn't the plot that I didn't like - I thought it was really interesting. What I didn't like was the characters - they didn't stand out, there wasn't anything to love or hate about them. There was nothing interesting about the people.

i have never been a part of a forum before so please excuse my ignorance as to how this whole thing works. lol

Avatar was a great movie, I saw it in 3D and it was pretty badass.
It was very imaginitive and epic. I thought there was a set plot in the movie and it all made sense to me.
