What age did you first drink some alcohol? What age do you think kids 'should' take their first sip? (and I mean 'sip' not getting battered!)
I can't remember my first sip. My parents were always quite open about it, with the thinking that if I try it, it will take the mystery or taboo out of drinking and therefore I wont binge drink and go crazy when I'm older. It kinda worked..... I don't drink much now but I did when I was a teenager. I started drinking reguarly (and getting served) in pubs from the age of 16. _________________ Helen, the Administratrix of www.area51newmexico.com

I was around 15-16, somewhere in that arena. The year I turned 18 Texas revised the legal drinking age from 21 to 18. That was an exciting day, actually being able to go into the bars legally. There was a considerable amount of intoxicated 18 year olds in that small Texas town that evening.

I was 14 or 15, got drunk as a skunk and sick as a dog. I didn't drink again until it was legal.
Strange, when I got out of Navy boot camp (9 weeks of purity) I couldn't stand a beer unless it was cold enough to keep soft ice on the mug. Any warmer than that it may as well be horse piss.
I can drink them now without being soooo cold but as you old timers here know I'm a committed wine-o these days. Sweet sweet wine, homemade and not much else. _________________

I was 9.
My grandparents had just come back from Australia, and had brought with them some boxes of wine. One red, one white. You pushed down some sort of button and out came wine.
I saw mum doing this and handing out glasses and they went into the living room, so I thought... hmm, drink...
Little did I know it was drink. I kept going back to that tap both boxes had been left in the kitchen, and after a while, I become a bit dizzy, so I went outside to see if I would feel better, trouble was I had lost my balance by then and fell into our rose bushes. I told myself i'd not drink those drinks again. Funnily enough, I don't like red wine, whether this is because of that day or not I don't know.

My dad made wine when I was younger so when he was putting it into bottles he'd always let me have a sip, I was about 6 when it first happened, I believe he stopped making wine when I was about 9. He also made some beer but I never tasted that. It was icky in my mind. _________________
