Have you ascertained that you are getting actual circulation of the transmission fluid or could you have a line blockage ? The high interior temps could cause the bands to slip.
Might be time to hunt down a good transmission mechanic and pick his brain some.
I had a 67 cougar with cooling issues that would do that till I rodded out the radiator, but it had no external tranny cooler.
Sheer speculation on my part here.
Hope you get it squared away.

Loving this thread so far
Having your laptop plugged into your car's onboard ECU is great, VAGCOM does the same sort of thing for VAG group cars
http://www.vagcom.co.uk/
Sorry to hear about your coolant issues, but I too am one to think circulation.
Happened to me as well, water pump went in my car, no circulation let it cool down, drive a bit until it got too hot, stop wait, drive a bit more, stop.
Water is stone cold in the radiator as the radiator is doing its job, but the water is not flowing so the water elsewhere heats up, but cant give up its heat at the radiator so it boils elsewhere.
I know you know all this, i'm just relying my experience and how I think it matches what you've had
Hope you get it sorted soon - need more updates _________________ I should update my sig. What to put here for $CurrentYear ? |

well just a quick update.
total disaster, the transmission is toast, it seems to have blown out a thrust washer behind the pump and thats why no pressure or fluid circulation. After that it was like sliding on sand paper inside it, I am actually very suprised it got me back home under it's own power! So now I got to save up and buy a new trans which costs about $2500.00 so you can see why nothing has happened yet.
Not sure wht I will do, might just scavange a junk yard turbo 400 trans to get me running till I can sell the Blazer and use that cash to get the trans I want. So depressing...... _________________ I'm faster than you!!!!!

so getting up courageto work on the beast again, thenew plan is to pull the trans out of my Bazer and put it in the suburban to get it going again. Basicly rob and pillage all the parts I need from one to put in the other. Gonna take the radio and glovebox and all sorts of stuff out and get SUBZILLA back on the road before winter!!
so stay tuned the fun will begin soon! _________________ I'm faster than you!!!!!

Does that video camera you have do live feeds at all?
( You set up your helmet camera to record your daughter helping herself to the fridge I think a while ago ? )
If so, we could get a live feed going
Any microphone capability as well? - I find when i'm struggling with something stiff like a nut and bolt that brute force and ignorance with harsh language mixed in can do wonders
We could perhaps capture the moments when Anthony's Law of the Workshop occurs. This law states that :-
Any tool, when dropped, will roll into the least accessible corner of the workshop.
*Corollary *- On the way to the corner, any dropped tool will first and always strike your toes.

Along that line, any bolt you are attempting to replace in an engine will be dropped and promptly disappear into some unreachable cranny of the engine, never to be seen again.

Oh well no big deal, now all that's left is pull the th400 out the blazer and put it in the burban!! HMMM need a break first. _________________ I'm faster than you!!!!!
