The World Cup has kicked off in South Africa!
Are you excited about it? Or are you like many people and thinking 'when does normal TV return'?
Who do you think will win?
I'm not particularly bothered about it sorry:D _________________ Helen, the Administratrix of www.area51newmexico.com

In our break-room at work there are two big screen TVs. One stays on ESPN which is a sports network, the other stays on CNN. Today they had both on whatever station carried the world mug thingy.
I felt like going home. . . .I mean, one TV is quite enough to cover a soccer game. _________________

I personally no longer have any interest in professional sports.
I did in earlier years, I was a big Los Angeles Laker fan back in the days of Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, etc.
But now,,,, Professional sports ? Don't need it at all.

I am fed up of being constantly subjected to football at the moment. I don't mind watching the England games and perhaps a few other matches that could be interesting. But apart from those I would like to be able to escape from football and watch something else. What 'really grinds my gears' is the constant bombardment, there is nothing on TV that isn't related to football (they seem to have canceled most of the other non-football related TV shows - even Dr Who had to largely be about football this week to compete with the World Cup) and all the adverts where companies have jumped on the football bandwagon despite their company having absolutely nothing to do with football, like McDonalds being the official world cup restaurant (who has done more to encourage childhood obesity than they, yet they sponsor a sporting event), there was even a tyre company using football to sell their tyres, and Nationwide have created a special world cup bank account! _________________ ~~~I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minuite of it!~~~

Yea I have to agree with you there Rach.
I went food shopping on Saturday and there was loads of companies trying to cash-in on the foot ball e.g. 'football' pizzas, football cakes and crisps in World Cup flavours (e.g. Australian BBQ kangroo flavour!) Crazy! _________________ Helen, the Administratrix of www.area51newmexico.com

And of all the places you thought you could be safe from it, you're still reminded of it
I think it's funny how all the football nerds on this forum have kept quiet _________________ I should update my sig. What to put here for $CurrentYear ? |

No one actually read Minties first post did they? Liverpool to win? It's the WORLD cup, ie. a competition between countries.
I hope Australia wins, but I dont have very much interest in it past patriotism. _________________

it ranks right up there next to that boat race deal in Austrailia, silver cup or Americas cup or whatever. I could care less if any of happened at all, any sports on TV really is a waste of my time. _________________ I'm faster than you!!!!!
