Well, the Pope's visit to the UK is now over. What did you guys think about it? Was it a good idea? Completely unnecessary? What do you think of what he and some of his entourage said about some of the controversial issues?

While I believe the visit was a good thing (although I'm not a Catholic myself), I do not believe that the UK tax payers should have footed the bill! The Vacatian is rich enough to pay for themselves!

indeed - over 10 million spent and he really isn't a head of state (compared to any other state in the world)... - and as for the man himself, i don't find his stance on a lot of things very moral...

I agree with both of you - it is good that he visited (I'm not Catholic either, I just appreciate that we are encouraging people to be tolerant of other faiths - a few hundred years ago if the Pope had set foot in England he would have been burnt for not being Protestant - Christianity needs to become more tolerant, the different branches of the same tree have to learn to get along). I also think that it was wrong to use taxpayers money, the UK is in enough debt and the Vatican must have enough finances to have paid for the trip.
