|
|
The government is debating a £26,000 cap on the benefits families can receive when the measure is debated in the House of Lords later.

What do you think to the reforms? Are you for or against?
Does it go too far or maybe not far enough?
I, personally, would love to live off 26k! The chance would be nice!
Out much, out of interest, is £26k in US dollars or Euros? _________________ Helen, the Administratrix of www.area51newmexico.com

I think it depends on the benefit..
If its for disabled people who cannot work, then i'm totally for them living as well as "the average person" financially speaking..
But also I think in general benefits should be far less than average wages, a lot of people are happy to live off benefits because they are comfortable - they should be uncomfortable, and doing your bit and going to work should mean you are rewarded... |

I agree with Stalker...if its for disabled people then they should be able to live like the rest of us.
Also I am for single parents getting benefits but they should only get enough to be able to live comfortably i.e. enough that will cover rent on their property (if they don't live with their parents), to keep food in the house and to keep parent and child clothed. I know someone that is a single parent that has been given a house she does not live in & gets £900 a month... that's almost as much as I got a month working full time...it pisses me off!!
As for people on benefits that just can't be arsed to work...well that is a different story...they shouldn't be entitled to tax payers money at all. Why should the rest of us work to keep lazy assholes? lol _________________ Some people are like Slinkies .....Not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

ooo just realised after hearing it on the news.. that 26000 is actually equivilent to 35,000 salary, as once that's taxed etc you would take home £26K - sounds way too high to me. |
